This is (just) a shortlist of the programming languages, services and software that we use regularly or have experience with.
PHP is a programming language that powers a huge portion of the internet - even Facebook was initially developed (and is still in large part) by PHP. It's the code that processes your forms, uploads your pictures and calculates answers using your data.
Sometimes yes, sometimes no, it really depends on the project. For small code tweaks then it won't be expensive, however for a large multiple month development then yes, the final cost may seem expensive (Or not, it's all relative really!).
In short, no! PHP is often referred to by those who don't know much about web development as a 'dying language' - no one really knows why. It's a thriving language with incredible support and fast paced development. It's a fantastic time to be a PHP dev!
